Mike Jagielski, an Operations Analyst at Bell Helicopter with the Survivability Integration Group, will talk to students about aircraft combat survivability, susceptibility, and vulnerability. Survivability is the capability of an aircraft to avoid and/or withstand a man-made hostile environment. Susceptibility is inability of an aircraft to avoid the radars, guns, ballistic projectiles, guided missiles, and other elements that make up the hostile environment. Vulnerability is the inability of an aircraft to withstand the damage caused by the hostile environment.
Mr. Jagielski’s career with Bell Helicopter has spanned 25 years. He earned his Master’s in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and his B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Darryl Smith, CEO of Premier LogiTech, will explain the important relationship between calculus and entrepreneurship, and the role of math and science in pursuing careers in business. Because of critical thinking skills he acquired from math and science courses in high school and college, he was admitted to one of the world’s most prestigious business schools. These skills have enabled him to solve complex business problems as a consultant, private equity investor, and entrepreneur.
Premier LogiTech is a Grand Prairie-based supply chain solutions provider. Premier’s customers include Mary Kay, AT&T, and Dell Computers. The company was recently recognized as one of the fastest growing inner city companies in the United States by FORTUNE magazine. Prior to acquiring Premier, Mr. Smith was a Vice President at Platinum Equity, a $3 billion private equity firm. He was also a Senior Manager at Accenture, the global consulting and technology services firm. Mr. Smith was a captain in the U. S. Marine Corps and served in Desert Storm. He earned a B.S. in Economics from the U. S. Naval Academy and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
