Damon Printz with his 3D quadcopter

Join us for the January 12th Dallas STEAM Explorers meeting! We look forward to a fascinating presentation on 3D printing and quadcopters by Damon Printz, a recent graduate of Lovejoy High School (June 2014) and a freshman at Texas A&M University – College Station, where he is studying Aeronautical Engineering.

Damon is an inventor, tinkerer, and big fan of the Maker Movement. His fascinations lie in a wide range of both emerging and established technologies, in areas such as mechanical, electrical and aeronautical engineering. Throughout his high school career, which included independent study, Damon had the opportunity to build some interesting things, such as a prosthetic wrist and a remote-control sailplane.  These studies allowed him to investigate various tools of the trade, including composite layup, 3D printing, CAD software, programming, machining, and other prototyping skills.  Damon’s primary focus in college will be to master the Engineering Design Process and to obtain practical skill sets from as many engineering branches as possible.

The meeting is open to any and all middle school, high school, and college students, and will be from 6:30-8 pm on the UT Dallas Campus in the TI Auditorium, 800 W Campbell Rd, Room ECSS 2.102, Richardson, TX 75080. For a detailed map, go to www.utdallas.edu/maps/ and click on ECSS.
